‘Sometimes We See Them, Sometimes We Don’t’ reflects a conversation between distortion and everyday experience. These paintings explore varying and shifting forms, forms that explore abstracting and obscuring moments from my familiar surroundings, examples can include elements of pop culture imagery, urban and natural surrounds. The fluidity of painting allows for a image that is unknown but also surprisingly familiar, each painting has its own set of idiosyncratic and intuitive motions that leads to ambiguous characterisations and altered feelings. Unconscious and conscious gestures within the paintings create a push and pull effect, abstraction combined with familiarity, encouraging the viewer to create their own individual association with the imagery.
