Muscle Man explores the representation of transgender bodies through mixed media; soft sculpture, paint, wood, and plastic. These varying expressions mold together to capture my trans-self-image. Muscle Man explores the concept of body dysmorphia to masculinity, emphasizing the constant fluctuation of emotions through bodily marks and visceral materials. Abstracted silhouettes and flesh-like forms examine the mixed feelings within my own body, while also celebrating and embracing the multifaceted nature of transgender identity.
Each work in Muscle Man tells a different side of my daily trans narrative, an experience that is both painful yet so full of joy, showcasing the playful vulnerability of trans experiences. While Muscle Man addresses body dysmorphia, it also emphasizes honoring the beauty of transgender bodies and experiences.
